why we serve:

1. Service to others transforms our worship of God.

• "Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles..." James 1:27 (NLT)

• "'Which of these three do you think was a neighbor . . . ?' The expert in the law replied, 'The one who had mercy on him.' Jesus told him, 'Go and do likewise.'" Luke 10:36-37

• "Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."

2. Service to others transforms us as we:

• make new friendships with people we're serving

• learn to see our communities with new eyes

• grow in our passion to "walk in the way of Jesus"

3. Service to others transforms our community as we partner with local organizations and meet real needs.

4. Service to others transforms our friendships with our co-workers – friends both inside and outside of the church.

Don't just GO to church – BE the church!
