Is there a greater image than seeing God's church working together in love for a family in need? This weekend I witnessed this in action, and it was incredible.

Most of us at Jericho Road are aware of the story behind young Mark and his father, and every time we see them come to church, it is a testament of their continued faith and hope through what must be times with very little hope at all. As Mark and his father have been forced to spend most of their time and energy taking care of each other, things like cleaning their house, doing yard work, and other chores tend to seem less important; and rightfully so. However, as time goes on like this, much more major problems can arise.

This is why Jericho Road Church decided to focus an entire weekend on our efforts to improve their home. We cleaned out their garage, did a lot of cleaning and other work inside their home, and also did an unbelievable amount of work outside. Trees were trimmed, countless bushes and weeds were pulled, gutters were cleaned, and their house was painted! See the photos.

Even though I was only there for a few hours on Sunday, I could see how much work had been done, and also how much work was being done. It was also extremely encouraging to see that it wasn't just a handful of people who were helping, there were a significant number of various people from the church lending a hand.

In the end, I realized that this is what church is about. I believe that this is what God had in mind for Christians. This is exactly the kind of work that non-believers need to be seeing, and that believers need to be doing. The joy that is felt in putting someone else's needs before your own is amazing.

I can't wait to do it again!
